1) What is this efsli Training on Demand about?

This Training on Demand has been designed for Deaf trainers.
Gaining a solid foundation in signed languages is one of the first steps towards becoming a good pratictioner in sign language interpreting programmes., and Deaf trainers play a key role in building up that skill. This training course will provide Deaf educators with tools to enhance their training skills in the areas of sign language and interpretation.
IMPORTANT: A second training on demand (follow-up) for Deaf trainers will be organised at the University of Hamburg (Germany) on 12th-13th October 2016. Registration for the training in Hamburg will open in Summer 2016.

Training venue

Training will take place in Belgrade, Serbia at:
Ustanova kulture Vuk Karadžić
Bulevar kralja Aleksandra 77/A
Zvezdara, Beograd
Further details will be given to registered participants.

Schedule:

Friday 20th May from 2:00pm to 6:00pm
Saturday 21st May from 9:30am to 5:00pm
Sunday 22nd May from 9:00am to 12:00am

IMPORTANT:

Your place on the course will be confirmed by email at the latest by 1st May 2016.
Please do not book your accommodation or flight until your place on the course has been confirmed. Or if you do so, it will be at your own risk.
Selection of participants will be made according to the “first come, first served” system. Training will take place if the required minimum number of participants has registered.

1) Who is the trainer?

Our trainer will be Professor Christian Rathmann.
Dr. Christian Rathmann is professor for sign languages and sign language interpreting at University of Hamburg, Germany. He directs two BA- and MA programs in sign language and sign language interpreting as well as two professional training programs in Deaf interpreting/Translation and sign language education. Furthermore, he was involved in establishing another training program for Deaf interpreters at University of Salzburg, Austria (in collaboration with Logo! team). His ongoing research projects include interpreting studies, sign language studies (esp. sign language corpus), LI/12 acquisition, sign language learning & teaching and Deaf Studies.

2) Communication at efsli Spring School

The trainer will use International Sign Language
Correspondence with efsli and official documents will be in English.

3) How much does it cost?

The registration fee includes tuition, coffee breaks, course material and dinner at Saturday night. Participants will have to arrange for their own accommodation and travel.
Payments must be made the same day of registration. If not, your registration is not valid.

• efsli individual member (GDP* up to 20.000 €) 100,00 euros
• efsli individual member (GDP exceeding 20.000 €) 250,00 euros
• non efsli individual member (GDP* up to 20.000 €) 200,00 euros
• non efsli individual member (GDP exceeding 20.000 €) 500,00 euros
*GDP = Gross Domestic Product of the country

Individual membership is open to Sign Language Interpreters within Europe and other interested persons who subscribe to the aim and objectives of efsli.
